Kansas City Feast

The Molle Family, who organize the Feast of Our Lady of the Audience in Kansas City have graciously extended an invitation to the Santa Lucia Festival Committee to celebrate with them at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (911 E Missouri Ave.) on Sunday, May 19 beginning with Mass at 11:00am, followed by a procession and lunch.

About the Feast: Our Lady of the Audience (Madonna dell'Udienza) is the patroness of Sambuca, Sicily. This feast remembers the day in 1575 which Our Lady gave "audience" to the citizens of Sambuca, saving them from the plague epidemic that devastated western Sicily. A highlight of the Feast is the shower of rose petals, where devotees ritually wipe the face and arms of the Blessed Mother and Child with cotton balls and rose petals.

Transportation Details: The Santa Lucia Festival Committee has organized bus transportation to and from the Feast.  Cost to cover expenses is $40 per person, payable by cash or check on the day of the event.  The bus will depart from Santa Lucia Hall (725 Pierce St.) at 7:00am on Sunday, May 19 and we expect to return no later than 7:30pm on the same day.  You must by Sunday, May 12 so that we can provide an accurate attendance count for transportation and the Feast organizers. Members and Devoti should wear their official Santa Lucia attire (black pants and white shirt with membership ribbon).
